Things to see and do Waitomo

This is the best-known company. Each cave is very different, and it's best to see them all:

Glowworm Cave. A 45-minute tour that attracts busloads of tourists. Inside, thousands of glowworms glitter on the cave walls like stars in the sky. A 5-minute boat trip above the "starry" sky is also a great experience.

Ruakuri Cave. The 1h30 tour combines limestone formations with glowworms.

Aranui Cave. A one-hour tour of a "normal" cave without glowworms.

The offer «Waitomo Glowworm Cellars and Ruakuri Cave» makes it possible to observe thousands of verses in the dark. The cave of Waitomo with the appearance of an underground cathedral formed by erosion is a highlight of the excursion. Take 2 hours for the visit. For the most adventurous, don't hesitate to try the various formulas of Legendary Black Water Rafting Co, an underground rafting experience with a guide!

90 minutes visit between limestone, stalactites, stalagmites and vers secretions over 1 km long. You can stop at coffee after the visit for a snack in a particularly pleasant decor in the beautiful season.

Twenty-five minutes south of Waitomo Village and a bit more off the beaten path, Down to Earth offers intimate tours (maximum eight people per group), from two to eight people and lasting a total of three hours, with two hours underground. A good physical condition is required due to the nature of the terrain, but the experience is unique. Children are not accepted, only teenagers from 13 years old.

The Spellbound company welcomes small groups of twelve people or less to explore two caves in Waitomo. The first is by boat and the other by foot, lasting over three hours. Throughout the exploration and initial shuttle ride, commentary is provided to enlighten visitors on the incredible natural beauty of the area. Hot drinks and cookies are also included in the ticket price.
