Built in 1836 by John Hobbs, the Stone House is the oldest stone house in New Zealand. Designed to store wheat from Te Waimate, it was later used to house timber from the kauri trees. It now has a small museum on the first floor and a store with colonial-inspired items on the first floor. Kemp House is the oldest surviving building in the country, dating from 1822.
