MOUNT PARIHAKA SCENIC RESERVE

This ancient volcano is accessible by car from Memorial Drive or by foot from Town Bassin via Dundas Road or Ewing Road. The summit is located in the heart of the Parihaka Scenic Reserve. At 241 meters high, it offers beautiful views of the entire city and its harbor. The War Memorial is a monument to the dead of the Second World War which is illuminated there every evening, and along the way one finds the remains of the former largest pā maori (terraces, pits).
