The huge coffee plantation, which begins 11 km from the town, covers more than 6,500 ha. Thousands of farm workers from the surrounding villages flock here every day. Every evening, they come to have their harvest weighed by foremen, who total some 1,500 tonnes each year, making Bébéka the country's leading coffee-producing area. The plantation experiments with different species of coffee from every continent. The natural world of this vast plantation is of the utmost beauty, with immense fig, acacia and podocarpus trees providing shelter for many birds. Honey is collected here.
