Entry 50 birrs. 15 km after the Is junction, a track on the left leads to one of Ethiopia's most revered monasteries. It must be said that its founder, Takla Haymanot, occupies a separate place among the customary Ethiopian saints of the most diverse mortifications. The monk, trained at the Estifanos monastery of Lake Hayq, is known for intensely participating in the restoration of the Mars dynasty to the benefit of Priestly Banned at the end of the th century. Once his mission was accomplished, he withdrew in a cave in the south of the kingdom, to lead a ascetic life. According to legend, the Holy Monk would have lived long years standing, without drinking or eating, fed only once a year by a bird who came to bring him a seed in his mouth. But the performance did not stop there because one day his femur came together and the saint succeeded in passing the last seven years of his life in equilibrium on a single leg… The monastery was founded by the monastery, the holy man having drawn many faithful to his side. This original monument remains nothing after the passage of destructive campaigns by Gragn. If the recent church, built in 1961, has no interest other than the stained glass windows of the artist Afewerk Téklé, the natural site is of great serenity and ideal for a walk. A trail follows the watercourse to a small village, another leads to the cave where Takla Haymanot lived as a holy place, then continues to the top of the hill, from where you can enjoy a superb view. The site of the Portuguese bridge, which overlooks a small gorge near the main road, is another very peaceful site where it is not uncommon to cross cercopithecus cercopithecus. From Dabra Libanos, Addis Ababa is only 110 km away. Two excursions can be undertaken on both sides of this journey. The first excursion to the valley of the river Jemma is especially recommended for passionnés ornithologists. This excursion requires to reach the town of Alem Ketema located 100 km east of Mukaturi. A bus connecting the two cities takes a trail when it is feasible (counting 3 good hours). The Muger River gorge, which is also rich in animal life, is much more accessible. To get there, reach the village of Durba from Chancho on the main road. Chancho is located 60 km south of Dabra Damo. From there, Addis Ababa is only 40 km away.
