LEBANESE BETA ABBA
Petit Futé's opinion on LEBANESE BETA ABBA
Tradition means that this church was built in 24 hours by Meskal Kebran, King Lalibela's wife, assisted by angels.
This precipitation probably explains the fragility of the sanctuary, carved in a more friable rock and whose walls of the facade are dangerously cracked. Perhaps aware of this fragility, the architects decided not to detach from the rock the roof of the building to relieve the structure, making it a recorded church. Although only the facade is apparent, the church is cleared on its four sides, which allows the tower to be turned on.
Always greedy for symbols, Ethiopians see in this facade a representation of a covered tabot, as it presents the days of procession on the head of the priest.
