Petit Futé's opinion on NATIONAL MUSEUM
This small museum, albeit modest, has a certain charm. Its architecture, which combines colonial style with Indian influence, surprises. A former residence of the Biru Abtegabriel, Minister of War under Menelik II, the museum now exhibits a multitude of diverse objects, including a few interesting images of birth and the extension of the capital. We'll see it, we see imperial clothes, weapons, coins and notes, and upstairs, handicrafts of everyday and ethnographic life. In the basement, there is an archeological section with a reproduction of the skeleton of Lucy! You can enjoy the small garden to relax and enjoy a drink while enjoying the view of the square below.
In front of the Addis Ababa Museum, Menélik II, a very tree-lined avenue with a recently refurbished public garden, rises to the hills. There are the large official buildings that house governmental and international bodies, and the upper palace of Menelik II.
