MEDIEVAL CASTLE

During the 15th century, the Livonian order built a fortress and a place to live. In 1700, the Dukes of Courland settled there. The Soviets decided to preserve the ruins and in the 1970s undertook the renovation of the castle (you can admire the bricks of the time). The castle museum has an interesting collection of medieval objects. Worth seeing: the observation tower. Once you are up there, you will immediately understand the strategic position of the castle because you can see the territory from several kilometres away.
