MAJORI
Read moreJomas iela is one of Jurmala's oldest and most important streets. Over the years, it has become a popular place to stroll and dine after a pleasant day on the sunny beach. The best way to experience the pace of life in Jurmala is to stroll along Jomas iela. Since 1987, this pedestrian street has stretched for around 1.1 kilometers, from Turaidas to Omnibusa iela. Jomas iela is packed with restaurants and taverns. The menus on offer are incredibly varied, offering Latvian, Russian, Ukrainian, Lebanese, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Japanese and other national cuisines. Every year, in midsummer, the Jomas iela festivities take place. For several days, locals and visitors alike enjoy concerts, theater performances, festive markets, creative workshops, parades and sporting events. Near the Majori train station, on the spot where Jomas iela historically began, is a square with the sculpture "Lāčplēsis" or "Lāčplēsis's fight with the dragon".
