Travel Guide Kalinago Territory

You enter the Kalinagos territory located between Marigot and Castle Bruce. This community lives from agriculture, fishing, crafts (pottery, wood carving) and basketry. Their ancestral creativity can be seen in the baskets, hats and rugs made of tropical leaves that they sell along the way. They are also experts in the construction of gum tree canoes. They no longer live in traditional huts but a village has been reconstituted in the forest, the Kalinago Barana Auté (in the village of Sallybia). Visits are organized with guides from this community to discover their culture through their daily life but also their songs and dances. Also worth seeing is the church (located next to the school), for its original altar in the shape of a boat hull and its murals.
