Coming from Pointe-à-Pitre on the N1, the entrance to this road is signposted just before Petit-Bourg, at the level of Versailles, with its destination the Côte sous-le-Vent, at the village of Mahaut, between Bouillante and Pointe-Noire. This transverse departmental road in Basse-Terre (D23) serves some of the most beautiful sites in the National Park, and promises numerous hikes. Like a long ribbon, the road is generous and full of contrasts. In case of heavy rain, some hikes are forbidden for safety reasons, as landslides are frequent and rivers can quickly burst their banks. You should also be careful when driving.
