More wild and rocky than Alicudi, Filicudi is covered with ferns growing among caper trees, wild olive trees, ash trees and prickly pear trees. Its waters, very rich in fish, probably attracted the first inhabitants, who appeared on the island at least 3,000 years ago, on the peninsula of Capo Graziano. Apart from the village around Filicudi Porto (the main port), there are other inhabited centers on the southern shore, such as Pecorini a Mare, or nestled in the interior of the island, such as the village of Valdichiesa, located near the church of Santo Stefano, or the small village of Rocca di Ciauli, which is located on the plateau. A road in good condition connects these villages where there are about 250 inhabitants. The eastern side of the island, less rough than the others, is favored by a succession of terraces. The hotels and guesthouses are located in the three centers, the port, Rocca di Ciauli and Pecorini a Mare. The hotels have a transport service for their guests.
