Between Sambuca di Sicilia and Burgio lies Giuliana. This village of 2,000 inhabitants owes most of its development to Frederick II, who had the castle rebuilt (probably on the remains of a building of Muslim origin) and fortified the town. The castle is still there, although time has brought its share of changes (e.g. the Church of the Holy Trinity in the 17th century). Another monument, from the 14th century this time, the village church was rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century in a neo-Gothic style that is not to everyone's taste; we will concentrate instead on locating the salvaged elements of the old building.
