This small town of 6,000 inhabitants is an interesting and not without charm. The city has preserved traces of the Arab occupation. Its first nucleus of dwellings was grafted around the castle erected by Emir Zabuth. They are visible in the district of the Saracen alleys, whose narrow streets and inner courtyards are reminiscent of an eastern city. The crenellated tower with its ancient clock also bears witness to this period. From the top of the calvary built on the ruins of the old castle, there is a panoramic view. The 16th-century Carmine church is a place of pilgrimage; it houses a Madonna attributed to Gangini. The small anthropological museum is housed in the XVI century Panitteri Palace. It exhibits tools and objects of everyday rural life. Nearby, the archaeological site of Adranone reveals the remains of a city founded in the 4th century B.C. by inhabitants of Selinunte. There are also the remains of a village from the 13th century BC. A small Antiquarium exhibits fragments found in the area. Finally, water-skiing enthusiasts will discover the calm waters of Lake Arancio, where many competitions take place.
