This peaceful and industrious town of over 11,500 inhabitants is both a small fishing port and an active wine centre. After the invasion of the Normans in Sicily, the feudal system was imposed here. From the 11th century until the abolition of feudalism in 1812, the territory of Terrasini, together with the lands of the village of Favarotta, was passed down from generation to generation to the lords of the time. The treaty of October 17, 1836 decided by Ferdinand II, King of Sicily, gave the territory its independence. However, Terrasini continued to belong to the Duke of Orleans. On his death, the village was returned to the inhabitants. In the early 1900s, a large part of the population emigrated to the United States. This exodus accelerated during the Second World War. It was not until the 1970s that the town became an important tourist centre because of its beaches and its proximity to Palermo. The Magaggiari beach is very popular with families because of its quietness. The town also has a regional museum where you can learn more about life in the past.Festivities. From 15 June to 15 September there is the "Summer of Terrasini", during which many festivities take place. The Easter weekend is also the occasion to participate in the popular festival "la festa di li Schietti"
