Travel Guide Marineo

Located 30 km from Palermo, Marineo is recognizable by its silhouette: a huge pointed rock overhangs the houses. Traces of prehistoric civilizations have been found here. Among the monuments to be discovered are the Arab castle, the church of San Ciro (17th and 18th century) and the sanctuary of the Madonna della Dajna (15th century). Continuing along the winding country road to Corleone, just before Ficuzza, you pass through a magnificent forest of refreshing oaks. Proof of the quality of the landscape, even the kings have fallen in love with it: Ferdinand III of Bourbon had an elegant palace built here for the royal hunts.
