With its savannah speckled with acacia and rowan trees and dotted with kopjes, Kidepo Valley National Park and its 1,442 square kilometers is the most isolated park in the country. Nestled in a semi-arid plain traversed by the Narus and Kidepo rivers, the area is surrounded by mountains, some of which rise to more than 2,700 m, including Mount Morungole. The park, created in 1962, is bordered to the north by the South Sudanese border and has 86 species of mammals (28 of which are found nowhere else in Uganda) and 475 species of birds, 60 of which are endemic. We find here the lion, the leopard, the spotted hyena, the jackal, the warthog, the caracal, the cheetah, the otocyon, the elephant, the zebra, the mongoose, the daman, the protel, the eland, the porcupine, the buffalo, the giraffe or the python, on land, and the superb choucador, the bucorve, the golden pipit, this can be seen as a way to create a sense of identity and a sense of belonging to a particular group of people, as well as a way to create a sense of belonging to a particular group of people, and to create a sense of belonging to a particular group of people. During the dry season, the disappearance of temporary pools of water forces wildlife to gather around the Narus River to drink; this concentration of wildlife is a boon to the observer. During the rainy season, when tall, green grass replaces the dry, short grass of the dry season, the animals are more scattered across the plain. During this time, you may be the only visitor to the park! In the long run, the park should welcome rhinos from the Ziwa Sanctuary; an area of the park is specifically dedicated to the preservation of endangered or reintroduced species. Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers are on hand to deter poachers who might be tempted by such a wealth of wildlife (in recent decades, poaching has unfortunately led to the local extinction of some species). Another salient feature of the surroundings: the unmistakable and striking silhouette of Katurum Lodge, built in 1972 by Idi Amin Dada
