Grèzes is nestled on a 1,008 m high limestone peak, in a unique environment which is part of the Natura 2000 network. The area is characterized by numerous caves and has been occupied since the Neolithic period. In the 9th century, Grèzes welcomed the bishop Frézal several times, hence the name "Saint-Frézal mountain", which was formerly given to the summit dominating the village and on which a castrum stood during Antiquity. But what you must see is the 13th century tower of La Clauze, the keep of a castle dismantled in the 19th century. Also not to be missed is the Maison de l'Assemblée, an educational building typical of the hamlets in the region before the advent of secular schools.
