It is a sylvan station nestled at the border of the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve, in the small valley carved by the Manantiales River, 70 km from Havana and about 100 km from Pinar del Río. Soroa is known for its great variety of orchids and its beautiful waterfall. The site was discovered by a French coffee farmer, Jean-Paul Soroa, who was fleeing the Haitian revolution at the end of the 18th century. From Havana, take the highway to Pinar del Río: Soroa is indicated on the right at Candelaria. By cab, count about 25 € for the round trip with a 2 to 3 hour stopover in Soroa.
