This festival organized by BRIC (Brooklyn Information & Culture) lasts all summer and offers a varied program of music, dance and theatre. Each week is devoted to a theme and includes pop, jazz, gospel, classical, Latin, African, Caribbean and Latin music, as well as modern, ethnic and classical dance. Finally, the Kings County Shakespeare Company presents, for a week, several pieces by the Stratford master. Although admission is free, a donation of US$3 is strongly recommended.

NATHAN'S FAMOUS HOT DOG EATING CONTEST
Read moreSince 1916, Nathan's Famous, Coney Island's hot dog king, has been holding a giant hot dog eating contest on National Day. The record is held by a certain Joey "jaws" Chestnut, who in 2021 managed to swallow no less than 76 hot dogs in 10 minutes! In fact, it's the world record. In the women's category, New Yorker Miki Sudo won in 2020 after swallowing 48 hot dogs. Unique and kitschy!
