Ylläsjarvi is a village on the southern side of Mount Ylläs. The Ylläs Ski Resort is just 5 km away. Unlike Akaslompolo, which is a lively little village, Ylläsjarvi is rather quiet, with most of the activity concentrated around the ski resort. As for nature, the village is located near a lake and surrounded by greenery. A number of hikes can be made from Ylläsjärvi, which also has the advantage of offering a magnificent, quieter setting close to the main traffic artery. There's also a small food store for refuelling, and a lovely beach where you can enjoy a coffee.
