Located at the foot of the Del Castillo hill, named after the ancient Almohad fortress, this large white village has become the main town in the region. The church of Nuestra Señora del Mayor Dolor is the oldest and most emblematic church in Aracena. A Gothic style church built in the place of the old Alcazaba. In its city centre, there are many buildings designed by Aníbal González, the architect of the Plaza de España in Seville. And of course the entrance to the famous Maravillas cave. In the surrounding area, black-legged pigs are reared in its dehesas (pastures), from which the excellent Iberian ham is made
