This ciudad blanca, a white city of more than 21,500 inhabitants, is the birthplace of the poet Juan Ramón Jiménez, Nobel Prize for Literature in 1956, who was exiled during Franco's regime. A great strawberry producer, this town offers many artistic monuments, including the 17th century hermitage of Notre-Dame-de-Montemayor and the neoclassical-style town hall.
