Museum opened in 2006 and housed in an 18th century house in Seville

Opened in 2006 and housed in an 18th century house, it is a real gem. On the initiative of Cristina Hoyos, a dancer with a considerable international career, this space reveals the art of flamenco dance in five rooms. First of all, its history and the contributions of different countries to this dance: the castanets for the Phoenicians, the hand movements for India or the classical dance steps for France. As well as the trajectory and expansion of this flamenco, whose name comes from the expression fellah min gueir ard, campesino sin tierra, peasant without land, and will progressively go from a private show to a world-famous dance thanks to its presence in the cinema. Until it was classified as intangible heritage of humanity by UNESCO in 2010. We will also see different old costumes and a didactic space presenting the bases of this dance, the different palos (styles): Siguiriyas, Bulerías, Alegrías... All of this with a wonderful use of multimedia, transparency or sumptuous lighting. Through film projections, photos, music or objects, this museum is particularly educational. Exhibitions, workshops and shows complete the activities of this place that took four years to design and one year to build. It is the only flamenco space that has been named a Lugar de Interés Turístico by the Junta de Andalucía. It is highly recommended to attend the shows that are performed there.

We visited it with my son summer 2011. It is unique in the world. A show in E flamenco not to be missed. It is not a trick with tourists and you can see in many country in more it is not very expensive.
Good visit and good show
