This town got its Anglo-Saxon name(pink hill) from the sunsets on the Corps de Garde mountain. On Route Royale, the Le Plaza theatre also houses the town hall. The establishment opened in 1933 with a musical film starring Maurice Chevalier. The beautiful Creole house just before belongs to the bishopric of Port Louis. In the same street stands the church of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. Made of granite stone and without a bell tower, it houses a semblance of a reconstruction of the grotto of Lourdes, a curiosity. The residential quarters also contain some beautiful patrician residences.
