This beautiful old basalt stone building was already serving as a shopping mall in 1912! Masterfully renovated in 2022 in keeping with its original architecture, the complex now houses some forty retailers in a warm, light-filled space steeped in history. The restaurant area boasts a number of trendy cafés and tables. Our favorite is Bistro Barbu, a new-age troquet with a recycled spirit, where you can enjoy tasty salads, burgers and homemade dishes.

While the island's largest factory is located in the north, in Grand Baie, Curepipe is nevertheless considered the capital of model boats. There are several workshops and stores in and around the town. The choice is difficult, as prices and quality vary greatly from one address to another. Don't hesitate to visit several factories and compare finishes. Make sure you also know about shipping costs and taxes, because while it's possible to take a small model as hand luggage, it's not possible for larger models (extra cost).

Small but delightful, it's one of Mauritius's prettiest shopping areas, chic and different: a collection of a dozen or so jewelry, fashion and home decoration brands, arranged in an old house around a paved inner courtyard. The courtyard is home to La Table Matisse, a restaurant/tea room where you can enjoy a coffee or a small dish at any time of day. Adjacent to the patio, the Antiquaire is a unique den of furniture and objects from old homes. The charming space hosts temporary exhibitions by Mauritian artists.
