After Saint Felix, we arrive at this village known for its large sugar factory, whose restored remains form a wonderful ensemble and house a superb shell gallery. The surrounding land covers hundreds of hectares and contains several waterfalls and beautiful uncultivated plots where it is possible to see deer, bats and rare birds. The owners of the area occasionally engage in stalking, which explains the presence of trails and stands in the unplanted areas. The latter are private, but partly open to vacationers who enjoy several recreational areas. It is on these lands and to the south of them, on the edge of the lagoon, that real estate developers have given shape to the fantasies of large hotel groups via several 4 and 5 star establishments. Two of them, the Heritage Telfair and the Heritage Awali, are grouped together in a vast land and beach leisure domain - Le Domaine de Bel Ombre - which includes luxury villas, a reserve where you can practice outdoor activities (trekking, quad biking, buggy, 4x4), two 18-hole golf courses, a beach club with a bar/restos/kite club/water sports club.... and the usual plethora of hotel facilities (mini-club, spa etc.) and restaurants - including a gourmet restaurant in a 19th century castle. On the sea side, there are several kilometers of beaches, sometimes a little windy and rainy in winter, but located in a still wild section of Mauritius, close to a multitude of green activities. We are here on the most isolated coast of the island and this contributes to a feeling of calm and exclusivity, reinforced by a landscape of green hills in the background.
