Chamarel rum is one of the most qualitative rum in Mauritius. Its history is linked to that of the Couacaud family who, in 2008, built a distillery to produce cane juice rum (agricultural type), the production of which is controlled from A to Z: from cultivation to the final bottle. A part of the raw rum is aged in French oak barrels from Limousin to produce the Rhum Ambré (18 months), the VSOP (4 years), the XO (6 years), the vieux rhum (10 years) and some vintages well selected by the cellar master.
