After Goodlands, the road returns to the sea at the level of Poudre d'Or, a village of no interest except that Paul saw Virginie sink there aboard the Saint Géran in the famous novel by Bernardin de Saint-Pierre: "A mountain of water (...) came roaring towards the ship. At this terrible sight (...) Virginia, seeing the inevitable death, put one hand on her clothes, the other on her heart, and looking up with serene eyes, appeared an angel taking her flight to heaven. O dreadful day! Alas! All was swallowed up. A symbolic monument (without any charm) was erected at the end of a small pier in honor of all the Pauls and Virginians of the planet
