South of Grand Gaube, some 5 kilometers inland, Goodlands lies on either side of a main road. It's a typically Mauritian town, welcoming few tourists apart from the privileged few who have booked one of the 4 rooms at Demeure Saint Antoine, a superb old colonial-style residence. If you don't want to stay and sleep here, you can come for lunch or dinner in a delightfully old-fashioned setting. Goodlands is also known for its authentic and generally untouristy markets - the fruit and vegetable market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and the fabric market on Tuesdays and Fridays.
