South of Grand Gaube, about 5 km inland, Goodlands lies on either side of the main road. It is a typically Mauritian town, which welcomes few tourists, apart from the privileged few who have booked one of the 4 rooms of the Demeure Saint Antoine, one of the most beautiful colonial houses in Mauritius. For lunch, this is the most charming stop in the area to treat yourself after a stroll through the fruit and vegetable market (Wednesdays and Saturdays) or the cloth market (Tuesdays and Fridays). Just in front of the stalls stands the largest ship model factory in the Mascarene Islands: Historic Marine, a reference.
