The adventure began with the opening of the largest diamond cutting factory in the Indian Ocean in 1970 under the name L.S.P Ltd. In mid-1800 in Belgium, the Denton family began working with diamonds. In 1920, Mr. Stephen P Denton's great-grandparents immigrated with their family of diamond polishers to South Africa, which was a leader in diamond cutting and sales for almost 60 years. It was Albert Goldstein, Stephen Denton's father-in-law, who took over the diamond cutting business in Mauritius in 1980, followed by Stephen Denton. In 1983, Mauriden was opened by Stephen Denton to meet additional customer demand for diamonds and a possible order for jewelry. LSP and Mauriden had previously been active in cutting, through polishing to finished product.
Opened in 1987, Adamas Ltd, whose Greek name means "Diamond", has been a pillar of the duty-free jewelry industry ever since. In 2005, Sebastian Denton, the current managing director, joined the company. Father and son manage the company.
The largest diamond dealer in the history of Mauritius displays an average of 12,000 pieces of jewelry and diamonds daily at its three outlets in Grand Baie, Floréal and Port Louis at the Caudan Waterfront. The company markets many of the great international names in jewelry: Luca Carati from Italy, Mastoloni for pearls, Leo Schachter, Michael Werdiger, Louis Glick (all three known in the USA for their special diamond collections), Giorgio Visconti from Italy, Edward Mirell for titanium, steel and other modern metals and Bellari for precious stones. A large collection of 18-carat gold with precious and semi-precious stones are on sale in Adamas boutiques, as well as finished 18-carat gold jewelry that is unique from all over the Indian Ocean.
The silver jewelry is signed by renowned designers from Switzerland, Italy, France, America and Hong Kong. The watch collection includes top-selling models by Maurice Lacroix, Guess, Pierre Cardin, Nautica, Buren, Corum, Oris, GC Collection, Versace and Movado. Adamas is the official representative of the Mont Blanc brand in Mauritius, which includes a variety of accessories such as watches, bags, sunglasses, belts, wallets, unisex jewelry in addition to its famous feathers and many others. Adamas is constantly renewing its jewelry and watch collections, which are rigorously selected by experts. Adamas is also the exclusive distributor of the Mauriden jewelry collection and Mauriden diamonds, the most recognized in the Indian Ocean, all made on site in the workshop that has been in the same building since its establishment in 1970. Diamonds, precious and semi-precious stones are certified by international laboratories (GIA, HRD, IGI or EGL).
With a multilingual staff, buyers are guided to the products they are looking for. Adamas customers include tourists from all over the world (Russia, France, Eastern Europe, England, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Austria, China, South Africa, America, Saudi Arabia and many others).
Adamas prices defy all competition, averaging 40% less.
