Pointe aux Canonniers forms a sort of peninsula just before Grand Bay. Like the Plate Island, this peninsula was once used as a quarantine area to protect the colony from epidemics (cholera and malaria in particular). The buildings were located on the site of the current Club Med and a ditch even separated the tip from the rest of the island.
Even though the long stretch of sand of Mont Choisy is in the immediate extension of the peninsula, the latter has few immense beaches but rather a succession of very beautiful coves and coves pleasant for swimming. This is the last site still quiet before the hustle and bustle of Grand Bay. Beautiful lagoon.
