About 15 kilometers north of Port Louis, Pointe aux Piments is lined with filaos and dark rocks. Its rocky and eroded coastline has no large beach except for the Victoria Beachcomber Resort & Spa. Otherwise there are coves and creeks lined with black rocks, not very favourable for swimming except in front of the hotels which sometimes do not hesitate to rake the bottom to make the bathing more pleasant. Far from the overrated agitation of Grand Bay, the calmness is the major asset of the place, and this intermediate situation between the extreme north and its numerous seaside activities on one side, Port-Louis and its cultural curiosities on the other.
