The original mill was built in 1736, on the orders of the French governor Mahé de La Bourdonnais, in order to supply the port workers. Rebuilt almost identically, it is a picturesque place with a beautiful view of the harbour. It stands in the heart of a district steeped in history, within walking distance of the Post Office Museum and especially the Aapravasi Ghat. It can therefore be part of a more global cultural circuit. The interior, not to be missed and quick to visit, exhibits tools, millstones, old or more recent photos..
