On the edge of the harbour, this tourist-commercial centre is the oldest in Mauritius and still the nicest, the most vibrant, the one where artists exhibit and craftsmen share their know-how: a lively, fluid and airy place in the heart of the capital's bustle. The complex is made up of two entities: Caudan I and Caudan II, with no less than 150 shops selling local and international brands, a Craft Market for handicrafts and dozens of restaurants, bars, street food trailers, etc. Also: museum, casino, cinema, Art Center, hotels.

The spirit of the Caudan Waterfront is evident in the harmonious architecture of the centre. It is a perfect blend of historical structures and modern architecture as well as specific atmospheres from one building to another

C’est un lieu de ballade et surtout de shopping situé à proximité du port. Ce lieu est gigantesque envahit de boutiques de tout style. On vend aussi bien des fruits que des vêtements de marque. Attention aussi aux prix très bas qui peuvent laisser penser à de la contre façon. Difficile aussi d’obtenir des factures… Possibilité de régler en euros. Un grand lieu à touristes…
On profite de l'ambiance d'un marina, mêlée à la proximité du casino et des boutiques, le tout dans un environnement très propre et avec des sculptures et éléments artistiques.

Quant au rhum, plutôt l'acheter à la rhumerie de Chamarel !
