Located in a beautiful garden, the Malaysian Heritage Centre is an ancient istana, a royal palace for the Malaysian sultans of Singapore. Built in 1842 by architect Coleman, the palace was occupied by the descendants of the sultan until 1997. The building was then renovated and transformed into a museum that opened in 2005. It is here that we discover Singapore's Malay heritage. In the park, don't forget to take a look at the trees, the gelam trees that gave the neighbourhood its name. In the past, their trunks were used to make boats out of them.
