A first church was built by George Coleman in 1836 but was destroyed by lightning in 1852. The second Gothic church was built on the same site between 1865 and 1861. The first Mass was celebrated in 1861 and the Anglican Church was consecrated as a cathedral in 1870. During the Japanese occupation, it was used as an emergency hospital. Observe the four paths that lead to the cathedral, forming the cross of St. Andrew (an X-shaped cross).

to get there on Sunday morning at the time of the mass to enjoy the atmosphere; mostly frequented by expats according to what we saw… Interesting visit and possibility of contact with the faithful.
