LONG BAR

The bar at the Raffles Hotel is full of myths. It is here that the famous Singapore Sling cocktail was invented. It is also the only place in Singapore where you are encouraged to throw your peanut peelings on the ground. This tradition dates back to the time when wealthy Malaysian farmers came to Singapore for the weekend at the beginning of the 20th century. The setting, in the purest colonial tradition, has been only slightly altered, despite the heavy renovation work undertaken in 2018 and 2019 in the hotel. The long wooden bar is original.
