Housed in a renovated 1920s building, this contemporary art center showcases many of the city-state's talents.
The site, built in the 1920s, used to serve as a power station. It was in the 1980s that art, in its various forms, began to take hold in Singaporean society. The building, since abandoned, began to develop into a center for independent contemporary art, the first of its kind in the city-state. For the past 40 years, The Substation, an alternative, multidisciplinary center, has given visitors the opportunity to discover avant-garde works. Many young artists have made their mark here and are now giving classes... Creative!
