ESPLANADE THEATRES ON THE BAY

Opened in autumn 2002, the Esplanade is a popular cultural venue for Singaporeans. They renamed these enormous structures the Two Durians, for their shape and spikes, which make them strangely resemble the fruit so beloved by Asians. There are several concert halls, as well as a large library. The promenade along the river is very pleasant, and you can dine al fresco in the Esplanade's many restaurants.
