Erected in 1873, originally a private sanctuary belonging to the Pillai family, it is the city's oldest Hindu temple. Renovated in 2023, it can be spotted by its colorful gopuram, or tall pyramidal tower, which marks the entrance to the temple. Its many brightly-colored Hindu deities - Ganesh, Murugan and Lakshmi - are typical of the Dravidian temples of southern India. The turret was added in 1968. The temple houses the sacred silver chariot on which Murugan and his acolytes are taken to the Batu Caves on the eve of the Thaipusam festival.

This temple is to visit if you pass in the neighbourhood! All this architecture is loaded with the Hindu temples to various divinities, it may seem kitsch to us but original!
