Located on the edge of the Loire department, on the outskirts of Saint-Étienne, Bas-en-Basset rises to an average altitude of 460 meters. Today, the town has a year-round population of around 4,400 and a summer population of around 10,000, thanks to its 2 campsites, one of which is the largest in the département. The mild, sunny climate of this small town has earned it the nickname "Little Nice of the Haute-Loire". Numerous festivities punctuate village life, including the St. Martin's Day fair (also known as the donkey fair) on November 11th, which brings together 800 stands, including 50 local producers, as well as a gastronomic fair.
