CARIFESTA

Carifesta, created in 1972 by the heads of Caribbean states, has become a major cultural and identity festival over the decades. Numerous Caribbean artists take to the stage, with the Paramaribo Cultural Market and Trade Fair being the highlights, with dynamic, diversified and colorful spaces. Carifesta brings together art exhibitions, literary meetings, a symposium, fashion shows, storytelling and the culinary arts of the Caribbean. Each year, the festival takes place in a different country.
