On this side of French Guiana, the border is much less busy than the Brazilian one. It's a tiny Surinamese town on the banks of the Maroni, the gateway to Suriname from Saint-Laurent. Nearby, you can visit the Galibi nature reserve. Albina is a transit town, where Guyanese shop but don't stay. If you wish, you can take a pirogue from La Charbonnière in Saint-Laurent, but there's no need to stay longer than a day for your shopping... Unless, of course, you prefer a more in-depth visit to Suriname and its capital Paramaribo.
