This island, occupied for nearly 30 years by the Cinnamon Dhonveli, is still growing, even artificially. It was here that Tony Hussein Hinde, the Australian-Maldivian surfing legend, set up his first surfboards to establish his base camp. For a long time, it was mostly occupied by Italians, but nowadays it welcomes a more mixed international clientele. The lagoon is large and deep enough for snorkeling and other water sports. The beach, facing north-east, stretches along the whole length. The vegetation is quite dense, except for the developed parts. The south of the island is not allowed to swim because of the strong currents, which frustrates the occupants of the Water Bubgalows. But this is where the surfers enjoy themselves. Pasta Point is reputed to be one of the best breaks in the Maldives and is exclusively reserved for the resort's guest surfers. The number of guests is limited to 30, so that everyone can enjoy the spot in total freedom. The mix of families, couples and surfers is very pleasant. The island has a special atmosphere, both relaxing and festive, which can however be noisy in high season.
