Gardi Sugdup, or Crab Island (Isla Cangrejo), is the first island from the Gardi pier. It is also the most animated and the most crowded. The islands close to the coast are indeed overpopulated, which leads to strong problems of sanitation and waste management, not to mention the issues related to climate change. In addition to the local population, you will meet Panamanians and Colombians passing through during the season. Their old boats moored at the dock, they come to sell their goods, eat or rest If you choose to stay on a sailboat, we advise you to stop by Gardi Sugdup on your way out or on your way back to visit the museum, buy molas and get a closer look at the Guna way of life before heading out to sea and the paradise islets.
