Located half an hour from Pedasí, this half-moon-shaped beach is a surfer's paradise. Along with Santa Catalina, Venao (or Venado) is one of those natural gems that make surfing enthusiasts happy. The waves are at their best on the rising tide, both left and right. Proof of its potential, numerous national and international championships are regularly held here, which seems to have boosted work to develop the beach's tourist infrastructure, completely transformed in just a few years. Those who knew the little guinguette where you could eat fried fish and spend the night in a hammock or tent, alone facing the ocean, may be a little surprised... Elegant resorts and groups of villas have transformed the landscape. On the plus side, those looking for comfort will find everything they need, but beware of the noise if you choose a hotel in the central part of the beach. Playa Venao has become trendy, with electro parties regularly attracting party-goers from the capital, especially at weekends. For authenticity and the wild surf spirit, you'll have to head a little further down the coast, to Playa Guanico, Cambutal or Playa Morrillo.
