Sangha was made famous by Marcel Griaule, who spent most of his stay on his research on Dogon. It is a set of thirteen Dogon villages overlooking the beautiful cliff of Bandiagara. The two largest are Ogol-du-Haut and Ogol-du-Bas. Administrative services, craft shops, the guides office and accommodation structures are concentrated in the first village. Sangha is much more attractive than other towns (Bandiagara, Bankass, Douentza). You are here really in the heart of Dogon country. The area of Sangha has the most beautiful cliff villages in the region, as well as the most visited sites. Its inhabitants are used to seeing tourists, and the reception is obviously not the same as in remote villages. Children are constantly asking for pens and candy.Craftsmen follow foreigners to sell souvenirs. If you have little time to spend in Dogon country, this is where you need to go and if you plan for a hike of several days, you can reach quickly (two days) beautiful villages still preserved. A Sangha is one of the largest markets in the region. The Dogon Week is five days, the market takes place every five days, so it is impossible to be precise.
