Twenty kilometers south of Ein Gedi, Masada is an isolated mountain that rises from the cliffs of the Judean desert, on the shores of the Dead Sea. At the heart of a grandiose landscape, this site is a must-see on any trip to Israel. The best time to visit is at sunrise, when the desert offers an unforgettable spectacle of gold and light. The scene of tragic events at the beginning of our era, the fortress of Masada also symbolizes Israel's resistance to invaders throughout the ages. It is still mentioned today when evoking heroism and the spirit of sacrifice to the point of death. Today, a sound and light show is projected at night onto the mountain's western slope, only accessible from Arad.
